Campfire:
Event Series
About

Parcel B Campfire brings members of the Olin community together once a month to talk about important trends in the technology sector.

We bring in distinguished outside speakers along with members of the Olin Community, and cover interesting topics in a way that can only be done in a room full of engineers.

In the spirit of Olin, we’ll discuss technical details, but also the broader implications of our topics on society and entrepreneurship. We hope that attendees will not only find value in reconnecting with fellow alumni, but also learn and share knowledge about the important trends in our industry today.

Space generously provided by Bloomberg Beta. Simulcast to the Olin Library, and recorded on YouTube.

April 18, 2018

6:30pm PDT Networking / 7:00pm PDT Talk | PocketGems HQ

Cryptocurrency and Blockchain seem to dominate a lot of conversation and attention these days. One reason for this is the convergence of economics, politics, technology, and business all in one crazy topic. Another is, of course, the massive amount of capital going into this space and the seemingly overnight riches being created. We're bringing in a panel to talk about: blockchain technology and how it works, types of tokens (utility, asset, protocol), cryptocurrencies as currency and assets, ICOs and other types of crypto investing, conventional startups using blockchain technology, and a bit of science fiction and predicting the future.

Guest speakers: Etosha Cave '06, Casey Caruso, and Arianna Simpson

Moderator: Lee Edwards
